EBC always welcomes new ideas and initiatives from members, and there are ways you can get involved right away:
BikeWorks
We are always looking for people to help out during shop hours. Mechanical experience isn’t necessary, but if you know what you’re doing and can help people out with their bikes, that’s great! If you’re not a seasoned mechanic but want to learn we can help you. BikeWorks also needs volunteers to welcome people to the shop, sell memberships, organize parts and generally keep the place running smoothly.
Why volunteer at BikeWorks?
Regular BikeWorks volunteers:
-
-help build a stronger cycling community
-
-learn the art of bicycle mechanics
-
-receive discounts on bicycles and used parts
-
-can buy new parts and accessories at near wholesale prices
-
-can access BikeWorks anytime they like for free
If you’re interested in helping at BikeWorks email BikeWorks Coordinator Alex Hindle at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
EBC Magazine
If you have editing and/or writing skills that you’re dying to share with the cycling community in Edmonton, you can outlet your creativity through EBC’s magazine and other publications.
Summer Festivals
Summer is a busy time for EBC - from offering secure bicycle parking at many Edmonton summer festivals to co-sponsoring Bike Month in June - it’s the ideal time to get involved with EBC. If you like meeting new people, being outdoors and promoting cycling, we’d love your help this summer.
Advocacy
If you want more bike racks on buses, or want to increase awareness of bike theft issues, or meet with the City to talk about cycling infrastructure under the umbrella of the Edmonton Bicycle Commuters’ Society, then get in touch with us.
