What we do

The Edmonton Bicycle Commuters’ Society (EBC) has been a leader in the Edmonton and area environmental and cycling community since 1980. Our goal is to support the bicycle as a healthy and ecologically sound mode of everyday urban travel.

Do we sell used bikes? Can you donate old bikes to us? What are our hours? Do we teach you how to repair your bike? Read our FAQ for answers.

November Volunteer Appreciation Night

0 comments at 6:48 pm posted by Jim Storrie

Each month, we try to host a fun event to thank our many volunteers for making EBC the great organization it is.

This month we are having a movie night–we will be screening The Triplets of Bellevue and The Bicycle Thief at Bikeworks, starting at 6:30pm until about 11:30pm, on Saturday, November 28, 2009. Pizza and sodas will be provided by EBC, but feel free to bring snacks.

If you’ve volunteered at all this year, we’d like to thank you for your help, so come on by. And if you haven’t had a chance to take part in any EBC activities yet, come by too and get to know everyone.

For more information, please see http://edmontonbikes.ca/calendar.

Volunteer at BikeWorks

0 comments at 1:55 pm posted by Chris C

If you’re interested in volunteering at our community bike shop, BikeWorks, then come attend our volunteer orientation this Sunday, June 21 at 5pm at BikeWorks.  We’ll go over how the shop is run (procedures and policies), where things are, and how to handle various scenarios.

It’ll also be a good opportunity to meet the other volunteers.  If you’re interested in volunteering, but aren’t sure about your mechanical knowledge, we can partner you up with a mechanic that can mentor you.

For those that can’t attend the first session, an alternate session will happen on Sunday, June 28 at 2pm at BikeWorks.

Are you interested in volunteering for EBC but not sure how to go about it? You don’t need to have any mechanical experience to volunteer for us! We are always looking for people to help out at the shop or with other tasks (ie: outreach, community events, etc…). If you are interested in volunteering for EBC, please contact Zoe at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
