Get Helped

In addition to Bikeworks, a community do-it-yourself bike garage on Edmonton’s southside, EBC also maintains a newsletter, and both old and new editions are available on the site. EBC is also in the process of creating video to walk bicyclists through basics and more advanced tasks of bicycle care and repair.

Mechanics’ Corner

Our mechanics love helping people at EBC’s BikeWorks! Even when we’re not around tinkering away on bikes we can still help you out with your biking needs!  Below is a list of frequently asked questions about various aspects of bicycle mechanics. Some entries here are in response to emails sent by our website visitors. If you have any questions that you would like to ask a mechanic, you can always fill out the question form!

How-to videos

The EBC puts video online to instruct cyclists of all skill levels in how to fix and do interesting things with their bikes. You’ll need the free Flash player to view these, which you can download from this link if your browser doesn’t have Flash installed.

Trailers

EBC has two 8’ cargo trailers, one 5’ cargo trailer, and two BOB trailers. Members can rent any of them for $10/day or $2/hour.

Read more about renting our trailers.

Bicycle Registry

You can register your bicycle online with us for free.  This won’t make your bike more secure. It won’t reduce the chances of it being stolen: you have to lock your bicycle correctly (even at home) to do that.

This won’t increase the chances of your bicycle being found by the police.

Having the serial number of your bicycle will increase the chance that, should the police recover your stolen bicycle, you can get it back from them.

You should keep a copy of this information on paper. We don’t promise we’ll always keep these records.
