Heritage Days is car-free!

Bike down to Heritage Days, lock up at EBC’s free bike parking (2 on site), and enjoy the many delicious foods and festivities from around the world.
Heritage Festival 2010 will feature 63 pavilions representing over 85 cultures from all over the world.
Sample culinary delicacies, see creative performances, shop for crafts, artwork, and clothing, or chat with people eager to tell you a little about their cultural roots and their present-day communities in Canada. Menu can be previewed here: http://www.heritage-festival.com/festival-menu/
Various pavilions will also be showcasing cultural displays with photos, paraphernalia, and stories about their culture or ethnic background in Edmonton.
There is no public parking in Hawrelak Park during the Festival. Free supervised bicycle parking plus Park ‘n’ Ride buses will be running throughout the festival: http://www.heritage-festival.com/getting-there/
Please note that this is a city park and NO DOGS ALLOWED.

EBC volunteer opportunity:
This is an easy event! EBC needs 2 bike parking attendants (2 separate bike parking compounds) for all hours of the Festival. We’re also looking for 1-2 mechanics to do basic bike checks for a few hours each day (noon-4pm). CAN-BIKE 2 Course in September
EBC is offering a Canadian Cycling Association CAN-BIKE 2 course beginning September 11. CAN-BIKE 2 is an 18 hour, on-road cycling course.

Earth General Store’s 19th B’Earth day
Now that EGS has the room, we are going to have a celebration in the parking lot. Free minor bicycle repairs by EBC, burgers and hot dogs by Vegans & Vegetarians of Alberta, and maybe a few surprises! Enter for a prize draw to win a solar panel, iTouch, rain barrels, and possibly some other surprises!

EBC Annual General Meeting 2010
The 2010 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Edmonton Bicycle Commuters’ Society (EBC) will take place on October 3, 2010 from 1pm-3pm at Parkallen Community League Hall (11104 65 Ave). Door prizes provided by MEC and EBC will be awarded. Food and drink will be served.
If you’d like to be involved in setting the future direction of EBC, whether as a volunteer, non-board committee member, or board member, or just want to hear what’s going on with the organization and meet some of its volunteers, please attend this AGM.
