Call for Bike Art Submissions
Posted by Alex H
Friday, February 11, 2011
Begins: 9pm
To celebrate EBC’s 30th anniversary (1980-2010), as well as the 10th anniversary of the Bikeology Festival, we’re calling out to artists to submit pieces for our first Bike Part Art Party & Auction.
We are looking for visual art, wearable art and crafts that have been made from recycled bike parts or that have a bike focus, such as:
- Photographs, prints, posters
- Clothing, accessories
- Jewelry
- Sculptures
- Small furniture, housewares
- Altered bikes
- Homemade bike accessories (bike baskets, bells, panniers, trailers)
- Unique bike parts or tools
Check out some examples of bike art from BICAS (Bicycle Inter-Community Action & Salvage) in Tucson, Arizona.
The silent auction will directly support EBC’s programs and services and a portion will go towards a public art installation in central Edmonton to commemorate our 30th anniversary. This is a great opportunity to help Edmonton’s only cycling education and advocacy organization!
In order to support a wider demographic of artists, we are allowing each artist to set the portion of the final sale that will go to EBC: 100%, 50%, or 10%. We do ask that you consider a full donation whenever possible.
Artwork submission guidelines:
Submitting your art is free. Artists may submit up to 3 original works for consideration in each type of media (eg. 3 photos, 3 tshirts, 3 pair of earrings). No video, audio or ceiling-suspended work will be accepted for the silent auction.
