Tour de Perogy 2009
Sunday, September 20, 2009
Begins: 8:30am-8pm
Do you love your pyrohy? Holubsti, borshch, kovbasa and pampushky?
Did your stomach just implode in an uncontrollable hunger after reading those words?
Ride with us to the Ukrainian Heritage Village (just east of Elk Island Park—about 55km each way). It’s a slow, leisurely ride with bike mechanics and pit stops, so you don’t have to be super-fit to come (and you may want to go on your own if you prefer fast rides). But you do want to be able to ride the entire 110km in one day, or else have someone pick you up at the village if you only want to go one way.

Recycle-A-Bicycle Day
Sunday, May 24th, 2009
Begins: Noon-5pm
On Sunday, May 24th, 2009, we’re hosting a Recycle-A-Bicycle Day at BikeWorks.
Bring your unwanted or unused bicycles, and we’ll assess them and either divert them for refurbishing or for metal and rubber recycling (we’ll separate the tires and seats/saddles from the metal and send them to two different recycling streams).
General Recycling Industries has kindly donated a metal recycling bin to aid in the collection and proper recycling of the metal components. Tires and tubes are recycled through a programme we have set up with our partner, the Alberta Recycling Management Authority. In 2008 EBC recycled over 9 tonnes of bicycle metal and thousands of tires and tubes.
The City of Edmonton Waste Management will be providing swag to those people that are recycling their bicycles, and we’ll be providing free food (hot dogs!) and refreshments to those that bring in donations.
So clear out your basements, sheds, and garages, and bring in your unused bicycles for a new life with a new rider.
