110 Street & Jasper Ave… Again

November 20th, 2008 by stevena · 2 Comments · Blockers

Yesterday contractors working at the apartment building across the street were at it again. This dump truck was parked in the bike lane, forcing cyclists out into oncoming traffic. The truck was running, but no one was in it.

I suspect this will be the #1 spot in Edmonton for bike route blocking. Let’s join a campaign to have the city re-engineer this hazardous, counter-intuitive and overall deadly pimple on the face of the Edmonton Bike System. Down with wrong-side counter-flow mis-aligned cyclist-hating roadways!

The lane was blocked again Wednesday, but the driver hustled into the cab and moved the truck away quickly when he saw me stop. Perhaps the city has been on the contracter’s case about this. Or maybe the guy’s shift was over and he was just going home.
