Rental Bikes

Thanks to a generous grant from Mountain Equipment Co-op, we now offer an affordable bike rental service, providing a range of second-hand mountain, road and cruiser bikes for short- to medium-term rentals.  Our rental bikes are suitable for youth or adults who are looking for a bike while in Edmonton for a weekend or a few weeks to do some commuting or recreational cycling.  They are not appropriate for racing—we do not have racing bikes.

Our refurbished rental bikes are fully tuned-up before every rental and come with front & rear lights, a lock and a saddlebag with a basic repair kit.

Rental rates are as follows:
$5/hour
$15/day
$50/week
$100/month

We accept cash or credit card (via Paypal). A $150 deposit is also required per bike. Deposits will be returned in full upon return of the bike providing there is no damage, above normal wear and tear, and all accessories are present.  A portion of the deposit may also be withheld if bikes are returned late.

For more information about our bike and trailer rental service please email bikeworks@edmontonbikes.ca or call 780-433-2453.

To rent a bike or trailer you will be required to fill out two forms, which can be previewed below:

Rental Agreement

Please note that all rental bike pickups and returns must be made at BikeWorks (10047-80 Avenue) during our regular operating hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you rent road racing bikes?
No. Our rental fleet does not include any road bikes suited to racing or competition of any kind.

Can I rent a bike or trailer indefinitely?
No, bikes and trailers must be rented for a specific period of time.

Can I reserve a bike or trailer?
Bikes and trailers are rented on a first-come, first-served basis. You can, however, call during our regular open hours to see if we are likely to have bikes/trailers available on the day of your call.

What if my rental bike breaks down?
Every rental bike comes equipped with a basic repair kit.  If you are unable to repair your bike yourself bring it to BikeWorks and we will repair it as quickly as possible.  Please note however, that you are responsible for returning the bike in good condition and that costs for repairs stemming from anything but regular wear and tear may be deducted from your deposit.  Also, the renter is responsible for transporting the bike or trailer back to BikeWorks should repairs be required.

Payment must be made in full at the time of rental.

Do you rent children’s bikes?
We have a limited number of smaller bikes that would typically fit children 12 or older.  These are mountain style bikes with 24” wheels.

We will attempt to accommodate rental extensions whenever possible.

Do you rent tandems, recumbents or other such bikes?
